Self Portrait
fearfully and wonderfully made
am I
constructed of the
mediums of
Creation
golden rays of sun braided for hair
a splash of storm blue ocean for eyes
red rose-petal silk for lips
soft velvet peach for skin
form shaped out of the earth’s clay: fertile and barren all at once
veins woven therein and poured full of music
organs fashioned then tethered with roots
bones gathered and carved of driftwood
silver strands of moonbeam and vibrant ropes of sunset knit into soul
whispering breeze and salty sea air spun into breath
aurora borealis and first-light-on-dew-drops cast into vision
rolling waves and pounding thunder harnessed into pulse
crackling lightning and ethereal rainbows forged into mind
this is who I am
this is how I was made
fearfully
and
wonderfully
