On Being Single…And Fixing Stuff

Being a single gal in my [brand new] 30’s has necessitated the learning of various life skill ordinarily and usually left rosie-riveterto boyfriends and husbands.  In general, I’m all for it since I am quite curious about how things work, go together, come apart, and so on.  So most little things that need repair, assembly, or installation are projects I really quite enjoy doing.  In fact, I delight in the sense of accomplishment I feel when taking raw materials or parts and putting them together in a intentional order thus producing some kind of delicious, functional, or otherwise useful final product.  And I am pretty proud of the fact that my electric mixer is not the only power tool in my collection!

Yes friends, I wear a tool belt pretty well and have been known to sling a nail gun or two in my time.  Also it’s a fact that I sometimes “cuten up” when making trips to Home Depot or OSH–hey what better opportunity for meeting handsome, strong, manly men?! ;)

So having obtained my shiny new side-mirror I set out to install it.  This morning.  Before work.  Because of course, along with being curious, I’m also sometimes just the teensiest bit impatient.  I had googled the basic instructions so I had a pretty good idea of what needed to be done; the rest, I’d just make up!

inside my car door–I just popped off the door panel,
removed the three bolts (at the top right kinda out of frame),

unclipped the old wiring & removed the bogus housing.
Then I mounted the new mirror housing,
threaded the new wiring through the door,
clipped in the new wiring…

and PRESTO!  New mirror installed…tah-daaaah!!
