Mav Trivia #6: I Love Yogurt & Granola

(I have to tell you that every time I’ve typed “granola” during this post I have originally mistyped it as “grandola” first and for some reason that just totally cracks me up)!

I now return you to your regularly scheduled program.

So as I was saying I recently discovered the delectible combination of creamy yogurt and crunchy granola…for my self.  Sure, people have been wisely doing this for YEARS, but me?  Oooohhhoho no.  The potential for having a soggy, gloppy, oatmeal-like concotion was too high for me to risk it.  (Yes, its true, I am not an oatmeal fan). yogurt & granola

One morning a few weeks ago I woke up feeling particularly risky and dangerous, craving some kind of exotic adventure.  Sadly it was a weekday morning and like every other weekday morning I was headed off to work.   Sad, I know, no adventure for Mav :(   But then I was sitting there at my desk eating my oh-so-yummy Raspberry Yoplait and looking at a box of Nature’s Valley Oats ‘n Honey granola bars and I thought, “What if…?”

Motivated by my particularly spunky mood, I took a granola bar pack and mashed it up, trying not to make too much of a scene at my desk using my water bottle as a pummeling agent.  When the bars seemed pulverized to just the perfect bite-sized crumb, I dumped it into my yogurt and mixed it all around tentatively taking my first bite.   And OH WHAT A GLORIOUS SENSATION FOR MY TASTEBUDS!  The flavor of raspberry sweet-tartness and the warm buttery-honey granola, the juxtaposition of textures–smooth and creamy mingling with crisp crunchiness–Oh it was a match made in culinary heaven!

It was almost like having an ice cream sundae for breakfast.  *Gasp…shocked disbelief…”Did she really compare yogurt to ice cream?!?”   Yes.  Yes I did.  Never, in all my days upon this globe did I ever concieve of the possibility that something might be even remotely as tasty as ice cream.  Now mind you, don’t think I’ve gone completely mad, I will never pass up a great bowl of ice cream in order to have yogurt.  But I’m just saying, this new yogurt/granola combination is a fun tasty treat that I look forward to eating.

I should also note that my affection is singular in nature and really only like this specific combination of Raspberry Yoplait and Nature Valley Oats ‘n Honey.  I tried other flavors of yogurt and other brands of granola and they just don’t measure up, in my ever-so-humble opinion.  So there you have it, the story of how Mav met and fell in love with yogurt and granola…everybody now, “Aaaawwww!”

Oh my gosh! That is so VERY much like my own yogurt/granola epiphany.
