A Gender Conundrum

Metrosexual

Tonight I overheard a conversation some people were having about the metrosexual male.  A man was asking a woman if she thought she could ever date guy who was a metrosexual.   The woman answered that she guessed it would depend on how extreme the guy was.  By this point I had joined the conversation so I chimed in with something like, “Yeah well if his nails are all polished and clipped looking better than mine, I’m gonna get a little uncomfortable.”

Then the man said, “Yeah well, its not any different than when I meet a woman who works in the yard and builds stuff and has hands all calloused.  I’ll be thinkin’ to myself, ‘Well shoot, I gotta go build something!’  Making me feel less manly…”

hmmm…Touché

I said something about having my own tools and enjoying building stuff and dude told me I better keep that under wraps and not let the men know about that.

I sighed.  Clearly he wasn’t there the night I read my piece On Being Woman
